I am looking forward to reopening the cafe this Sunday after a short break. I had to get my knee operated on and so a few weeks resting up were required. Almost back to normal now and can’t wait to get back behind my fantastic Italian coffee machine again. Hope to welcome back plenty of regulars for coffee, cake and a catch up.

We have been lucky enough to host Alex and Jess from Le Peleton Co for a small exhibition of Alex’s excellent cycling themed art. His pictures have a strong graphic feel and are based around the classic jerseys and riders of the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. The pop up shop will be open all weekend of the 26th and 27th November so do come down and have a look!

Coffee Officina image

This Friday 8th July at 10 am we are going to hold a coffee tasting courtesy of our friends at Coffee Officina. Most of you will have tasted their excellent “Fiori” espresso blend but they have loads of interesting coffee from all over the world. Each coffee can be brewed in different ways to suit it’s characteristics and so it will be interesting to learn more about that. I am going to put together plates of biscuits and cake to compliment the selection.

The cost of the tasting is £8 including lots of coffee and cake and you can book via email or by phoning me. Hope to see plenty of serious coffee fanatics!

I have decided to cancel the summer aperitivo to to tonight due to the terrible weather. Hopefully we can rearrange it for a date in July when summer may finally have arrived. Busy weekend ahead. Lots  of promised visits …also come and check out my marquees!

This weekend we hosted Ipswich Bicycle Club on Saturday and what a lot of them there were! Hopefully we got everyone fed with cake and coffee without too much delay. My only regret afterwards was that I didn’t get to chat to many of them.

Sunday I was really pleased to have a couple of early birds in for breakfast and espresso. I really like being around early but up to now nobody has been in before about ten. We had cyclists in from both Manningtree and West Suffolk Wheelers as well as some smaller groups. The table football raised some interest and it will make a reappearance this weekend if the weather is good. The orange polenta cake with raspberries might also be back!

CAFE COMO almost there!

The cafe is almost ready. The San Remo coffee machine and grinder have been tried and tested by me and the neighbours, the boys have been trying and testing the cakes and if the signs ever get here we will be well and truly set. All that remains is to tempt in some customers this bank holiday weekend.

I am hoping that we will see a fair few cyclists given that we have so many passing by each weekend. I have a bike rack and plenty of outside space if the weather ever warms up so Cafe Como will be a good stop to refuel.
